Highlights of Myanmar
When people think of Myanmar, they know the 4 main destinations: Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan and the Inle Lake. This highlight tour takes you exactly there, but shows you a few places in addition and allows you to dig a little deeper into the history.
One of the biggest advantages Myanmar has over its neighbor Thailand is that the beaches and islands are just as beautiful, but the crowds are nowhere to be found. Ngapali Beach is Myanmar’s most famous beach retreat, but not many people take the time to visit. That is their loss and we like to take you there!
Even though Myanmar experiences a rollercoaster of changes and stability may not always look great, to travel Myanmar is a privilige and we are sure that you will love the beauty of Myanmar and its people.
The highlights tour brings you to the 5 places of Myanmar that are best known. It all starts in Yangon, the former capital of the country and largest city. The chaos, the colonial buildings and raw exterior allow for a greta introduction to Myanmar. Walk the back alleys and meet the people before you make your way to Bagan, where you explore the temples on an electric bike. Enjoy a number of great experiences at the temples and opt to view sunrise from a balloon. Continue to Mandalay, the heart and soul of the country, where you visit per bicycle Ava, Sagaing and Amarapura. Next stop is the Inle Lake where you visit the local vilages, monastries, the floating gardens and cycle through amazing rural landscapes. End your trip at the beach and fly down to Ngapali where you check into your beach resort and unwind after almost 2 weeks of travel.
Length of Tour: 15 days
Myanmar is Southeast Asia’s largest country and adding more destinations to this tour is not recommended. If you like to extend the tour, you may want to consider staying a bit longer in Bagan and Inle Lake to venture even further off the beaten track.
Outline of the tour
What does our expert say about this tour?
“The only reason why it is hard for me to sell Myanmar is the political situation. Without those issues, the country would sell itself. Even though not many people know about the beauty of the country and its people, Myanmar just sounds adventurous and like a last frontier. I love going around and meet the people, even after so many years of living here, having that conversation in the market alsways makes my day. Getting on a bicycle is another one of my favorite things to do, and during this tour I cycle Bagan, Mandalay and Inle Lake! I like the additions of Salay and the extra day in Mandalay. People always rush their trips but Salay brings a lot of relaxation and that boattrip there is magnificent. The extra day in Mandalay allows you to connect with the people. My favorite cycle must be at Inle Lake, it’s just green and beautiful. Ending at a beach in Ngapali is a no-brainer for me, and should be a dream for our guests!”
